Abstrakt: Celem artykułu jest analiza krytyczna stanowiska Krystyny Bieleckiej przedstawionego w książce: Błądzę, więc myślę. Co to jest błędna reprezentacja? Artykuł zawiera również zarys alternatywnego, naturalistycznego ujęcia błędnych reprezentacji poznawczych opartego na mechanistycznym modelu wyjaśniania naukowego. Według mnie główny problem teorii reprezentacji poznawczych (oraz błędnych reprezentacji) dotyczy mechanizmów ich powstawania: neurobiologicznych, psychologicznych, społecznych i innych. Swoje stanowisko krótko ilustruję przykładami mechanizmów błędnych reprezentacji pamięciowych. Końcowa część artykułu zawiera kilka uwag na temat ogólnej teorii błędnych reprezentacji poznawczych oraz roli, jaką w jej budowie może odegrać filozofia.

The coherence conception of representational error in the context of research into the formation mechanisms of memory misrepresentations
Abstract: The aim of this paper is to provide a critical analysis of Krystyna Bielecka’s position presented in her book: I Err, Therefore I Think. What is Misrepresentation? (Błądzę, więc myślę. Co to jest błędna reprezentacja?). The paper also contains a sketch of an alternative naturalistic account of cognitive misrepresentations based on the mechanistic model of scientific explanation. In my opinion the main problem of the theory of cognitive (mis)representations concerns formation mechanisms – neurobiological, psychological, social and other. I briefly illustrate my position by examples of mechanism of memory misrepresentations. The final part of the paper contains some comments on the general theory of cognitive (mis)representations and the role that philosophy can play in its construction.
